Factors that cause braking noise from brake pads

Braking noise is related to the comfort of the vehicle and whether it causes noise pollution to the surrounding environment, especially the urban environment. There are many factors that cause braking noise. As far as friction materials are concerned, the factors that cause braking noise are roughly as follows:

Fdb1493(5)

1. The higher the friction coefficient of the friction material, the easier it is to generate noise. When the friction coefficient reaches 0.45-0.5 or higher, it is very easy to generate noise.

2. The hardness of the product material is too high, which is easy to generate noise.

3. The amount of high hardness filler is too much, which is easy to generate noise.

4. After the brake pad is subjected to high temperature braking, a bright and hard carbonized film is formed on the working surface, which will generate high-frequency vibration and corresponding noise during braking friction.

It can be seen that proper control of the friction coefficient so that it is not too high, reducing the hardness of the product, reducing the amount of hard fillers, avoiding the formation of a carbonized film on the working surface, and using vibration damping pads or coating films to reduce the vibration frequency are all conducive to reducing the to overcome noise.
