What are the advantages of carbon fiber brake pads?

1.       Energy saving: The density of carbon fiber brake pads is about 1.8g/cm3, which is about 1/4 of that of steel brake pads, and the overall weight of carbon fiber brake pads is lighter.

2. Good braking performance: The strength of the carbon fiber brake pad itself is high, and a more stable braking curve will be pulled out during the braking process of the car, and it will accept more thermal shock caused by braking friction.

3. Low noise: Under the emergency braking of the car, the brake pads and the braking device produce strong friction, which will cause a large noise, especially when braking at high speed.

4. Low wear rate: It is found through experiments that under dry grinding conditions, if the relative wear amount of steel/carbon fiber composite material is 1, the wear rate of carbon fiber composite material/steel is 10, and the wear of steel/steel composite material is 5000. Carbon fiber brake pads extend the life of the brake pads with a lower wear rate and reduce the frequency of brake pad maintenance.

The wear rate of carbon fiber brake pads is lower than that of steel brake pads, but their wear resistance is not particularly high. Therefore, many auto parts manufacturers are trying new methods, such as adding other substances, such as ceramics, to carbon fiber composite materials. Made of carbon fiber ceramic brake pads, the wear resistance is greatly improved, making the brake pads more durable and safer.
