Working Principle of the Clutch

The clutch is mainly composed of four parts: the driving part, the driven part, the pressing mechanism, and the operating mechanism. The engine flywheel serves as the driving part, while the clutch disc is the driven part.

When you press the clutch pedal, the operating mechanism releases the pressure from the pressing mechanism. As a result, the driven part separates from the driving part, cutting off the power transmission. When you release the clutch pedal, the pressing mechanism presses the driven part tightly against the driving part. Power is then transmitted through the friction force between them.
