What are the types of friction plate?
Brake pads are mainly composed of friction pads and back plates. The brake pads mainly lie in the friction pads. In the market, such friction pads are mainly divided into semi-metal friction pads, low metal friction pads and ceramic friction pads.
1 semi-metal friction plate
The semi-metal friction plate is because the metal content of the friction plate exceeds 50% (usually steel fiber, iron powder, etc.). The main characteristics of this kind of brake pads are fast heat dissipation, high temperature resistance, strong braking, no brake failure under high temperature, and the price is relatively low. The disadvantage is that due to the material, the noise during braking will be larger, and the wear of the brake disc will be larger due to the metal material.
2 low metal friction plates
The low metal friction plate is simply understood to reduce the content of iron, which contains less than 15% iron fibers, has a high coefficient of friction, sensitive braking, and is not easy to make noise and damage the disc. However, compared with semi-metal formulations, its high temperature resistance, wear resistance and life are slightly lower.
3 Ceramic friction discs
The material of ceramic friction plate is mainly composed of mineral fiber, aramid fiber and ceramic fiber and other materials. On the one hand, when the brake pads rub against the brake disc, the noise will be significantly reduced, and the mute performance is excellent. At the same time, the damage to the brake disc during the friction process will also be significantly reduced, with almost zero wear. But the price is relatively high, mainly for vehicles.
