Train Brake Pads

Train brake pads are core friction components of railway braking systems. They convert the train's kinetic energy into heat through friction, so as to slow down or stop the vehicle safely.

There are two main types widely used in rail transit:

Brake shoes for tread braking They press directly against wheel surfaces. Mostly applied to freight trains, regular passenger trains and urban rail vehicles. Cast iron and composite materials are the common raw materials.

Brake pads for disc braking They clamp brake discs mounted on axles. This structure protects wheels well and works stably at high speed. It is the mainstream choice for high-speed trains, EMUs and modern subways. Main materials include powder metallurgy and ceramic composites.
