The role of piston rings is so important that the correct installation method of piston rings is shown  

The piston ring is the core part of the engine, and there are two kinds of gas ring and oil ring respectively.  The gas ring mainly plays the role of sealing and preventing air leakage of the cylinder, followed by the heat conduction from the top of the piston to the cylinder sleeve, and then the heat is taken away by the cooling water.  The oil ring itself stores some of the oil, which is used to lubricate the cylinder liner and scrape excess oil from the cylinder liner.  

If the piston ring is damaged, the engine will lose power and cause oil deterioration.  The piston may also be in direct contact with the cylinder wall, resulting in a knock on the cylinder, which shows the importance of the piston ring on the car.  Generally, as long as the car exhaust is blue, basically you can judge the piston ring failure.  

Correct way to install piston ring  

1, first of all, to prepare special installation piston ring tools, such as calipers, dilators, etc..  Check that the piston ring and piston ring groove are clean and that they are kept clean at all times during installation.  

2, next use the tool to install the piston ring on the piston ring slot, but in the installation process to pay attention to the order.  Most engines have three piston rings, with two gas rings and an oil ring, and some have four rings, with three gas rings and an oil ring.  

The installation sequence is to start from the bottom of the oil ring installation, and then in accordance with the third gas ring - second gas ring - first gas ring installation sequence.  

3. When installing the piston ring, we also need to pay attention to the orientation and opening position of the piston ring. If the gas ring is marked with letters and numbers, the side is facing up.  There are no positive and negative rules when installing the oil ring. Each piston ring should stagger 120° from each other when installing it.  

In addition, the piston ring will occur thermal expansion phenomenon when the engine runs at high speed, and there will be radial deformation in the process of working, so in order to ensure the normal operation of the engine, the piston ring needs to have clearance.  Clearance is mainly divided into side clearance, end clearance and back clearance, with values of 0.25-0.5mm, 0.04-0.1mm and 0.5-1mm respectively.
