Brake disc is the car in the process of driving it will rotate with the tire, brake calipers clamp the brake disc, will produce braking force, play a role in slowing down or parking.
Brake pads are installed in the brake calipers. When the brake is pressed, it will be squeezed onto the brake disc or brake drum, creating friction, so as to achieve the purpose of slowing down and braking the vehicle.
In daily driving life, we often use the brake, and the brake is by the friction between the brake disc and brake pad, play the role of reducing speed and braking. There are quite a few friends who confuse them and don't know the difference between brake discs and brake pads.
The brake disc, as its name suggests, is a dish-shaped disc made of metal with many holes in it. Disc brakes work well and are easier to maintain than drum brakes. The brake pad has ceramic, metal and carbon fiber material, in the braking system of the car, the brake pad is the most critical safety parts, the brake effect is determined by the brake pad, brake pad is generally composed of steel plate, adhesive insulation layer and friction block.
Do the brake pads and brake discs need to be changed together
Under normal circumstances, brake pads and brake discs do not need to be replaced together. The replacement cycle of the brake disc is longer than that of the brake pad. Under normal driving conditions of the car, the front brake pad needs to be replaced once for 30,000 to 50,000 kilometers, and the rear brake pad needs to be replaced once for 60,000 to 80,000 kilometers. And the front brake disc 60,000-80,000km to replace once, after the brake disc 100,000km or so need to be replaced. That is to say, the replacement of two brake pads need to replace a brake disc, a regular inspection, timely maintenance is the best habit.
