How to break in new brake pads?
When the new brake pads are replaced, they must be worn in with the brake discs to have the best braking effect. The reason is that the texture of the new brake pads is different from that of the brake disc. If the textures of the two sides do not match, the contact surface between the two sides will be reduced, and the source of friction will be reduced. Running-in brake pads must be carried out under a safe condition with sparse traffic. In particular, there must be no other vehicles trailing behind. Apply the brakes gently at low speeds first, so that the brake pads and rotors can heat up evenly. Then increase the speed to a certain level, and in a safe situation (no vehicles behind), apply a hard brake that can be handled within the range of personal skills. Slow down the speed suddenly to below 20km/h, then increase the speed again, and repeat the previous action. The purpose of doing this is to melt the brake pads to form a thin layer of sintered matter attached to the brake disc, so that the texture of the brake pads and brake discs match. In order to make this layer of sintered material uniform and beautiful, the car should not be stopped when b repeatedly performing sudden braking, so as to prevent the sintered material melted from the brake pads from accumulating unevenly on the brake disc.
Repeat this action more than five times, or stop when you feel that the braking response becomes sensitive, reliable and stable. At this time, you should no longer apply any brakes, and continue to sail at high speed for more than ten minutes, let the brake pads and brake discs cool down, and fix this layer of sintered matter.
