Friction coefficient of brake pads
Is it true that the higher the friction coefficient of brake pads, the better their performance? This is a misconception!
Both too high and too low friction coefficients of brake pads can affect braking performance. Especially when a car needs to make an emergency stop at high speed, a too low friction coefficient will result in unresponsive braking, while a too high one will cause the tires to lock up, leading to vehicle fishtailing and skidding, posing a serious threat to driving safety. Additionally, a higher friction coefficient can cause severe shaking, noise and wear during braking.
