How the disc brakes work

When the brake pedal is depressed, the piston in the master cylinder is pushed and pressure builds up in the brake circuit. The pressure is transmitted to the piston of the brake cylinder on the brake caliper via the brake oil. After the piston of the brake cylinder is under pressure, it will move outward and push the brake pad to clamp the brake disc, causing the brake pad to rub against the brake disc. advantage

1. The heat dissipation is better than that of the drum brake. When the brake is continuously pressed, the brake will not be degraded and the brake will be disabled.

2, can do high-frequency brake action, in line with the needs of the ABS system. The disc brakes do not have the automatic tightening action of the drum brakes, so the braking forces of the left and right wheels are relatively average.

3. Compared with the drum brake, the disc brake has a simple structure and is easy to maintain.

Disadvantage

1. Because there is no automatic tightening action of the drum brake, the brake force of the disc brake is lower than that of the drum brake. The friction area between the brake pads of the disc brakes and the brake disc is smaller than that of the drum brakes, so that the braking force is also relatively small. Therefore, it is necessary to use a brake disc having a larger diameter or to increase the oil pressure of the brake system to increase the braking force.

2. The hand brake device is not easy to install, and the rear wheel uses the disc brake to add a drum brake brake mechanism.

3. The wear of the brake pads is large, and the replacement frequency may be high.
