Classification of Automotive Bearings

Classified by Structure and Shape

Ball Bearings: With spherical rolling elements, they feature a compact structure and high rotational precision. They are suitable for high-speed and high-load applications, such as in automotive transmissions and engines.

Roller Bearings: Using cylindrical or conical rolling elements, they are capable of withstanding combined radial and axial loads. They are commonly used in automotive components like wheel hubs and drive shafts.

Needle Roller Bearings: Characterized by slender cylindrical rolling elements, they occupy little space and are ideal for applications with limited space, such as automotive rocker arms and pedals.

Spherical Plain Bearings: With cylindrical rolling elements, they can provide extensive axial and radial movement. They are frequently used in automotive suspension systems and steering systems.

Spherical Roller Bearings: They have the ability to automatically adjust the axis direction of the spindle and are suitable for occasions with large fluctuations in axial loads, such as automotive drive axles and differentials.

Self-Aligning Ball Bearings: Also equipped with self-aligning functionality, they are mainly used to bear radial loads and can also withstand a certain amount of axial loads. They are commonly found in automotive motors and fans.
